Released on December 20, 2024, "Hidden In Plain Sight" served as the definitive exclamation point on what was already a prolific year for Boldy James. Teaming up with Detroit producer whothehelliscarlo (Carlo Anthony), Boldy shifted away from the polished soul of his Harry Fraud or Alchemist collaborations toward something grittier and more experimental.

While whothehelliscarlo is often associated with the high-tempo Detroit trap scene, he pivots beautifully here. The production is a 18-minute masterclass in range, moving from drumless, eerie loops to jazzy boom-bap and even flashes of "chipmunk soul." It feels claustrophobic in the best way—like a cold winter night in Detroit.

This EP proves that Boldy James doesn't need a "big name" producer to create a classic atmosphere. It’s short, punchy, and lacks the "filler" that sometimes creeps into his longer projects.
